Rang-o-Roshni National Art Competition
I. How We Judge
Rang-o-Roshni is a purely merit-based art competition designed to celebrate genuine talent. Every single artwork is evaluated solely on its own artistic merit by an independent panel of professional artists. To ensure complete fairness, the judges evaluate the art without knowing the name or background of the artist. They will focus exclusively on your technique, your concept, and how beautifully you executed your idea. The judges' decisions are final.
II. The Prize Breakdown
The 1,000,000 PKR prize pool is split across our main categories:
Art for a Cause: The Grand Prize Legacy
Rang-o-Roshni is about more than just competition; it is about giving back. The artist who wins the Grand Prize will receive their full 500,000 PKR cash award. However, the physical winning artwork will be retained by Demoda to be sold at an exclusive exhibition. 100% of the proceeds from this sale will be donated directly to women's education in Pakistan via our trusted partner, the Waqarsons Foundation.
III. Eligibility & Deadlines
We accept all 2D and 3D mediums. This includes painting, sculpture, digital art, textiles, and mixed media. If you make art, we want to see it!
Who can enter: You must be an individual artist, 18 years of age or older, and currently living in or a citizen of Pakistan.
The Golden Rule: Your work must be 100% human-made by you within the last 2 years. Using any AI tools (like Midjourney or ChatGPT) to generate your art is strictly forbidden. If we find out a submission is copied or made by AI, it will be immediately disqualified.
The portal closes exactly at 11:59 PM on November 3, 2026. Late entries or entries sent via WhatsApp/Email will not be accepted.
IV. Category-Specific Guidelines
Because art is incredibly diverse, it is impossible to judge a sculpture by the same rules as a digital painting. To ensure complete fairness across all mediums, please review the specific technical expectations for your chosen category below.
Category 1: Canvas & Ink
- Oil Painting: Please ensure your canvas is completely dry and cured before submission, as wet pieces cannot be safely transported or exhibited.
- Miniature: To honor the tradition of the medium, artworks should not exceed 10x10 inches.
- Calligraphy: Works in this category should be traditionally hand-rendered. If you practice digital calligraphy, please submit it under Category 2.
Category 2: Drawing, Digital & Print
- Digital Art & AI: To protect digital artists from AI-generated spam, if you are selected as a winner, we will kindly ask for your original source file (e.g., .psd, .procreate) or a time-lapse recording of your process.
- Printmaking: This category celebrates traditional hand-pulled prints (Linocut, Etching, Screenprint). Digital reproductions (Giclée prints) of physical paintings should not be submitted here.
- Architecture: We want to see your creative vision! Please submit personal or conceptual drafts rather than commercial projects owned by an architecture firm, to avoid any copyright issues.
Category 3: Photography & Mixed Form
- Photography: To verify originality, digital photographers will be asked to share their RAW files, and film photographers should have a high-resolution scan of their original negative.
- Collage & Mixed Media: We respect all artists' copyrights. Please ensure any incorporated materials are either your own original photography, royalty-free, or heavily transformed under Fair Use.
- Mural Art: Please ensure you have written permission or a commission agreement for the public walls you paint on, so we can safely celebrate your work.
Category 4: Material & Craft
- Documentation: Since our judges cannot walk around your sculpture online, please provide at least three distinct photos (front, side, and detail) so they can fully appreciate its depth.
- Craft vs Factory: We celebrate the human hand. Indigenous and textile works should be completely hand-crafted, avoiding mass-produced or machine-made elements.
- Materials: For the safety of our exhibition staff, please do not use hazardous materials, decaying organic matter, or any endangered animal parts.
To be eligible for the Grand Prize exhibition, your artwork must be in your physical possession. Works that have already been sold to a private collector or are currently bound by a gallery contract cannot be submitted.
V. Entry Fees & Multiple Artworks
You are welcome to submit as many artworks as you like! The entry fee for your first artwork is PKR 1,500. If you want to submit more art, the fee drops to just PKR 1,000 for every extra submission.

You will need to upload a screenshot of your successful transfer at the end of the submission form.
VI. Proving It's Your Work
To protect real artists from thieves and fake entries, we ask everyone to provide simple proof that they actually made the artwork. You must include one of the following:
- •For Physical Art (Paintings, Sculptures):A photo of yourself holding or standing next to the artwork, or photos taken while you were making it.
- •For Digital Art:A screenshot of your computer screen showing the software with all your different layers open (Note: Original source files or time-lapse videos are required if you win).
- •For Photography:The original, unedited RAW file directly from your camera, or a high-res scan of the original film negative.
If you cannot prove you made the art, your submission will be rejected by our team before it ever reaches the judges.
VII. Why is there an entry fee?
We charge a small fee (PKR 1,500) for a very important reason: to block spam.
If the competition was entirely free, our system would instantly be flooded with thousands of automated bots, fake images, and AI-generated spam. By having a small payment barrier, we guarantee that every single submission comes from a serious, human artist.
This ensures our professional judges spend their valuable time actually looking at your art, instead of wasting time filtering out thousands of fake internet entries. The fees collected are strictly used to cover our secure cloud servers, image hosting, and the costs of running the platform.
VIII. Frequently Asked Questions
No. You need to submit a separate form for each artwork so our judges can score them individually. For your first painting, pay the standard Primary fee (PKR 1,500). For the next two paintings, just select the "Submitting an Additional Artwork" option on the form. This will lower your fee to PKR 1,000 for each extra artwork. Make sure you use the exact same CNIC every time so our system knows they all belong to you.
Our portal automatically compresses standard image files (JPG/PNG) for you behind the scenes! However, the strict 4.5MB limit applies to non-image formats. Crucial Fix: If your RAW photography file or video exceeds this limit, please upload a high-quality JPEG to the portal, and paste a public Google Drive or Dropbox link to your actual RAW/Video file in the artwork's description box.
Yes, definitely! You can send the fee from any normal banking app (like Meezan, HBL, NayaPay, SadaPay, or JazzCash). When transferring, simply select "EasyPaisa" as the receiving bank, and type in our account number 0343 4480 947 (Account Title: M. Usman). Take a screenshot of the successful transfer and upload it on the last step.
Yes! The competition is fully open to all overseas Pakistanis. As long as you hold a valid Pakistani citizenship (CNIC or NICOP), you are completely eligible to participate and win from anywhere in the world.
You can, but there is a catch. To be eligible for the Grand Prize (where Demoda retains and exhibits the winning piece for philanthropy), the physical artwork must remain in your possession until the results are announced. If you sell it to a private collector beforehand, it is no longer eligible for the Grand Prize.
Yes. If you don't have "work-in-progress" photos, you can simply take a clear picture of your finished artwork with your physical CNIC card or a handwritten note (with today's date) resting on top of it. This proves that you physically possess the artwork.
Using AI to generate moodboards or reference images for inspiration is completely fine, as long as the final artwork is 100% created by your own hand. However, using Generative AI to create any actual part of your submitted artwork (e.g., AI-generated textures, elements, or digital over-painting) is strictly against the rules and will result in permanent disqualification.
Once you submit the form and get your Reference Code, your entry is locked into our secure system and cannot be changed directly. However, if you made a critical mistake (like a typo in your email or CNIC), please email our support team immediately at demodapakistan@gmail.com with your Reference Code, and we will update it for you.
